The Jewish Voice of Hamilton

International Press Printers was established by Henry Balinson in 1911. The shop on King St. West was 14 feet wide and 17 feet deep. Henry was the publisher and the printer creating the only Yiddish newspaper in Hamilton. The paper unlike, traditional news, often commented on the social, political, and religious life of Hamilton. Every issue had Henry's editorial on the front page called Mein shpatsir iber Hamilton ("My stroll around Hamilton").
The paper was sent out to about 700 of the 1000 Jewish families in 1930s and 1940s in Hamilton, at the price of a dollar a year.
The shop was eventually passed on to one of Henry's sons, Morley who kept the press running until the 1970's.
