The East End

The area now known as the East End was originally rural land belonging partly to Barton and Saltfleet Townships. The City of Hamilton annexed the area in sections in the first half of the 20th century.

We define the boundaries of the East End as such: The northwest boundary is the CNR Tracks, until Parkdale Avenue, where the border extends northward to include Hamilton Beach, east of the beach, the border is Lake Ontario. On the west the area is bounded by Gage Avenue, on the south by the Escarpment and on the east by the Hamilton-Stoney border which roughly followed Gray Road, Hwy 8 and Centennial Parkway. The area contains the Hamilton Beach community and the former Bartonville village.

Neighbourhoods within the East End are Crown Point, Delta, Homeside, Bartonville, Rosedale, Kings Forest, Normanhurst, McQuesten, Glenview, Redhill, Parkview, Hamilton Beach, Conferation Park, Nashdale, Lakely, Grayside, Kently, Riverdale, Corman, Greenford, Vincent and Gershome.
